Nathan Turner

Nathan Turner is the new Assistant Principal at Jane Long Elementary School.  This is his first endeavor as an assistant principal. Mr. Turner comes to Brazosport ISD from Burnet CISD where he spent 9 years (2007-2016) as a teacher, 6 of those years as an athletic coach.  Turner began his career in education with Marble Falls ISD in the Spring of 2007 where he worked as a teacher aide while working on his alternative teacher certification.  Prior to his career in education, he served our country as a Counterintelligence Special Agent in the U. S. Army, and did one tour in Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.  While serving in the Army, he was involved in a training accident where he received a gunshot wound to his right hand near the thumb.  This injury forced his discharge from the military and prompted him to pursue a career in education.  Before enlisting into the Army, Mr. Turner patrolled the streets of Lake Jackson as a Lake Jackson Police Officer.  While this is Mr. Turner's first year with BISD as an employee, he is not new to the district. Turner is a 1993 graduate of Brazoswood High School.  He participated in 4 varsity sports including cross country, football, soccer and track.  He attended Midwestern State University where he received a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice in 1997. While at MSU, he was the starting place kicker for the football team during the 1993-1996 seasons. He also spent 2 years on the MSU track team. Turner graduated in 2010 with his Master’s Degree in Educational Administration from Lamar University.

Nathan Turner is married to Emily Turner, a Digital Learning Coach at Freeport Intermediate School.  Their son, Trevor, is in his Freshman year at Texas Tech University in pursuit of a degree in Mechanical Engineering.  In his spare time, Nathan enjoys spending time with family, camping, hunting, fishing, and playing golf.
